Wind in the Wheatfield
It was a windy, if overcast, day yesterday. Passing a field of young wheat, I wondered if I could capture the movement of the heads in the wind. Turns out you can. For this attempt I stopped the aperture right down to f/22, set up on the tripod, and took the photo at 1/13 sec. I also tried a much slower shutter speed (25 sec) by using a 10-stop ND filter, but I think that gave too much movement.
Edit: How embarrassing is this? It isn’t a wheatfield – it’s young barley. For someone who spends all his free time wandering the countryside, I cannot explain how I made such a schoolboy error. I am suitably embarrassed and it won’t happen again.
