Tree into the Sun

You should not shoot into the sun. Clearly it’s not great for your eyes, but the manual for my Nikon camera has an unusual take on that…

“Sunlight focused into the camera when the sun is in or close to the frame could cause a fire”

Really? Does that happen often? I sure hope not. Perhaps I should carry a fire extinguisher in my backpack?

Anyway, I get round this by strategically placing something between myself and the sun. Do it with trees – you get unusual, and sometimes unpredictable, and sometimes slightly spooky, results. Always high contrast – but I can work with that.
