The Glover’s Needle
The spire is all that remains of St Andrews Church in Worcester. Known locally as the Glover’s Needle, it is the slenderest spire in England, and is about 245 feet tall (75 metres). Look closely at the side facing the camera and you can see the outline of the church roof.
It is a well known landmark in Worcester, and is prominent for miles around. It is also home to a family of peregrine falcons (there’s a webcam here), which is a good thing as Worcester is plagued with pigeons and seagulls.
To me – it looks like a medieval rocket ship!
