Get yourself to Buckingham Palace at the right time, and you can catch the changing of the guard (as long as you don’t mind crowds – the place is packed!). The new guard, as they approach the palace, are proceeded by a military band, and you can hear them from a long way off, going through their repertoire of marching tunes. This gives you plenty of time to get your exposure right before they come into view.
A military band has a number of purposes, including inspiring your own troops with rousing tunes, and frightening the enemy. I’m not too sure which of those categories ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’ by Queen falls into, but if I were the enemy, I’d be more than a little impressed.
