Walk the length of the Malvern Hills, and you’ll be following the line of the old Shire Ditch, running from the Iron age hill fort at Midsummer Hill, north through the huge Iron age ramparts of British Camp, and up past Herefordshire Beacon to North Hill.
You’ll spot the odd boundary stone set into the ditch. I photographed this one as the sun rose on the last day of 2015, resting at the bottom of the Shire Ditch near the southern end of British Camp.
Bredon Hill and the Cotswold Hills are in the background, with the bright areas in the middle distance denoting flooded areas of the Severn valley after the December rains.
Photography stuff: 18-70mm lens at 70mm, 1/60 sec at f/4.0, tripod.
