Llantwit Beach Sunrise

Up at 0430, with a 2 hour drive to get to the beach at Llantwit Major before sunrise – was it worth it? You bet!

The cool thing about taking photos before sunrise is that the low light allows you to easily take long exposure images, and the receding tide makes a great subject

The lines of boulders make a nice leading line in the image. As the waves crash in, you can hear the boulders bashing against each other and the surrounding rock, in a sound that is reminiscent of a bowling alley in continuous use.

Photography stuff: 18-70mm lens at 22mm, 3 seconds at f/8.0, 2 and 3 stop hard graduated ND filter to hold back the sky, tripod
