Red Boat

Red Boat

I took this image at Lytham St Annes in December of 2012, using my trusty old D40. I rediscovered the image as I was finishing migrating my Aperture library into Lightroom.

This little red boat stood out as it sat on the beach at sunset, and was just begging to be photographed. I decided to emphasis the red of the boat by muting all the other colours in the image.

There are a number of ways of acheiving this – I chose the rather simple method of editing the image in Lightroom, going into the Hue/Saturation/Luminance tab, and de-saturating all colours except red.

Photography stuff: 18-55mm lens at 18mm, 1/80 sec at f/8.0, handheld.
