Another experiment with flash. This was taken just after sunrise, and I wanted to use the flash to accentuate the texture in the stone walls and paving, so I set it close to the wall on the left, pointing into the photograph. I again diffused the light using a loose cover of a white cloth (clean handkerchief!). I underexposed by two stops, and set the flash on half power – this is the result. It turns what would have been a fairly flat photo into something I could work with.

Photography stuff: 12-24mm lens at 24mm, 1/15 sec at f/9.0, tripod, flash to left of photo, set to half power and diffused.
